Break the Cycle of Bad Marketing

We’ve all been there before. We’ve got a product or service that we want to market. We either hire an agency to put together a killer campaign for us on search or social, or we do it ourselves. We put a lot of money behind our campaign (at least a lot of money for us). Then… nothing. Zero, zippo, nadda in sales. So we go back to the drawing board. Maybe we hire another agency. We come up with another campaign. We put more money behind that. And then… still nothing. After a while we get discouraged, so we pull back our marketing budget for a while. Then we do it all over again.

This cycle is maddening, and it happens every day to thousand of companies. It’s probably happening to your business right now. And the impact can be devastating. Marketing is the oxygen that fuels sales and growth, and without it your sales engine stalls. The worst part is that this cycle doesn’t need to happen to your business.

Marketing doesn’t have to be a rigged system where powerful advertising platforms hold all the cards (although it can feel that way sometimes). It’s also not mysterious voodoo magic (although it can feel that way sometimes too). Marketing is a discipline that is firmly rooted in the dynamics of human behavior. It follows well-established and often misunderstood rules. And all it takes to break the cycle of failure is understanding these rules and then build a marketing engine that exploits them to your advantage.

Believe me, I know how frustrating this can all be. As a marketer with over 20 years of experience in serving the high tech industry, nothing that I learned in school ever prepared me for the realities of marketing in the real world. I had to learn these rules the hard way. I’ve launched just about every type of campaign imaginable for everything from well-established brands to brand new startups, and I’ve failed more times than I can remember. But every failure sparked my curiosity and led me to dig deeply into the reasons why. Ultimately they led me to uncovering these hidden rules. After applying what I learned, my marketing campaigns started to perform better than they ever had before. Today, I’m fortunate to be able to take what I’ve learned and help some of the most recognized brands here in San Antonio to grow and succeed.
